Dave’s Take on the Sand Hollow Recreation Area
Hello again! Dave Graybill, fishingmagician.com and today I’m at the Sand Hollow recreation area, located just below the town of Vantage. And this is another terrific sight. Right on the Columbia River. There are 30 different camp sites available here at Sand Hollow, and many of them are right on the water. There’s good access to the Columbia River here, so for small boats and paddle boards, it’s a great place to be able to shove a boat in or explore the shoreline from a paddle boat. Just another wonderful area that you can learn about the flora and fauna along the Columbia River.”
“All of the campsites here at Sand Hollow have picnic tables and fireboxes, and there are some covered areas with BBQ grills, (Read here about the burn ban at Grant PUD sites). It is first come, first serve, but you can make a reservation to camp here at Sand Hollow. To do that, all you have to do is go to grantpud.org. I’ve known people who’ve used this site for many, many years, but what Grant County PUD has done for this beautiful piece of water here along the Columbia River is something special.”

Overview:
Dave’s experience at Sand Hollow campsite was short, but he had nothing but good things to say. This recreation area is a great place to hangout for the day and cast your rod, or even camp out for the weekend and take your fishing boat out on the river. Bring your friends and enjoy a picnic in the sun or grab your favorite furry friend and play a game of fetch in the water! The possibilities at this site are endless, and Sand Hollow will give you a lot more privacy than some of the other locations around.
Please keep in mind on your visit to treat the amenities with your utmost respect and care. Remember that you may be the only person there at one time, and therefore it is extremely important to stay cautious of the potential accidents that may occur. The burn ban affect during this summer is a strict guideline and is not to be determined internally based off of the weather conditions for a specific day. We want to keep sites like Sand Hollow beautiful, and smoke free. Learn more about camping for all camping sites managed by Grant PUD along the Columbia River click here.
