Save Money and Enjoy the River During Watershed Weekend

Are you looking for a campsite, but Crescent Bar is full? Is the Gorge campsite too crowded? Grant PUD provides great alternatives to camping at the Gorge. Get away from the busy crowd during the night and stay at a campsite that’s within just a few miles from the Ampitheater and save some money while you’re at it!

Watershed is a fun weekend experience to get with friends and enjoy music from some of the biggest current country artists right now. Thousands of people travel from around the Pacific Northwest to experience this amazing festival. The last performing artists each day don’t start their show until 9:40PM, and if you don’t include the hundreds of people who stay up after socializing, it’s easy to predict a late night. Finding a place to stay at that takes into account getting a goodnights sleep, or even pricing can be difficult. Although the Gorge provides campsites for it’s guests to come and stay, Sand Hollow is a great alternative for those who’d prefer to stay in a less crowded environment or want a more affordable alternative.

Sand Hollow Campground ($20)

Want a “20 for 20” deal? Well Sand Hollow is only a 20-minute drive from the Gorge Amphitheatre, and it only cost a thrifty $20. You heard that right, only $20 a night! This site not only provides a quiet place to refuel your energy before the next long, hot day of music, but is right on the river providing a great place to cool off during the day. A lot of the beaches right next to the Gorge Ampitheater will be extremely busy and hard to get to, so having a place to enjoy the water is a huge benefit to staying here. However, all reservations need to be made within 48 hours, so book your site NOW!

Rocky Coulee Campground ($15)

If you’re on an even tighter budget, another alternative is Rocky Coulee Recreation Area. This site is located right after Vantage bridge (If you’re heading West) and also includes quick access to the water. This site is only $15 a night and is about the same distance, only a 23-minute drive from the concert. But the best deal of all is that this site is based on a “first come first serve” basis, meaning if you’re too late to book a reservation at another site then there’s no need to worry! Just make sure you get there early enough so that the spots aren’t taken!

Both sites provide bathrooms, picnic areas (with shade), and are wheelchair accessible! Don’t forget the best benefit of all, access to the water! This will be a hot weekend so it’s important to take care of your body and stay cool. Remember, no liquids are allowed inside the gates, so make sure to bring an empty bottle or cup, (you can fill up inside). Hydration packs (i.e. camelbaks) that are 1.5L or smaller and clutch-style bags 6” x 9” are allowed, but any other bag must be smaller than 12” x 6” x 12” and CLEAR! (Read here)

We hope that everybody attending Watershed this weekend has an amazing experience, but more importantly stays safe! Keep hydrated and be aware of your surroundings. Remember to reserve your site at Sand Hollow or get to Rocky Coulee early to secure your spot! Have fun!
